Cairo Dress Rail After Rain

North window sidelight pours across a metal clothing rail in a narrow backstage corridor in Cairo, illuminating rows of pleated dresses still damp from recent rain. The heavy fabric absorbs the cool morning moisture, creating deep, saturated folds that catch the light along their sharp creases. In the foreground, out-of-focus shapes suggest nearby garments or equipment, framing the rail against a backdrop of weathered plaster walls and a high, narrow window. Late spring air leaves the fabrics heavy and clinging, their pleats rigid with water weight. Dust motes hang suspended in the beam, settling on the wet hemlines. at the edge is a single droplet clinging to the bottom edge of a navy silk pleat, threatening to fall.
