Rain falls steadily over a meticulously pruned juniper bonsai resting on a rough-hewn stone slab outdoors. The wet season air hangs heavy, visible in the constant sheet of water blurring the background foliage. Reflected light from a nearby water surface bounces up, illuminating the dark green needles and the wet, slick texture of the gray stone. Water droplets rest on the twisted branches, weighing them down slightly. The composition places the tree in the left third, leaving the right side open to the chaotic green of the surrounding Colombian forest. Rain streaks blur the distant leaves into soft vertical lines, while the stone remains sharp and solid. at the edge shows one drop of water sliding off the lowest branch tip onto the slab below.
