First rays of sunrise pierce through sea spray hanging in the wet season air, illuminating the copper wire wrapped around the twisted branches of a cascade-style juniper. A bonsai master's hands hold the delicate tree steady against a backdrop of a bloom-heavy meadow near Ouro Preto. Tiny water droplets rest on the rough, weathered bark and the vibrant green needles, catching the pale gold light. The wire glints with a metallic sheen as it is carefully manipulated to shape the wild, untamed form. The background blurs into soft patches of wildflowers and damp earth, showing the precision of the wiring against the chaotic growth of the surrounding meadow. one drop of moisture slides down the wire, refracting the morning glow.
