Benin Hog Yard Wet Season Midday View in along a muddy paddock fence in Benin

Benin Hog Yard Wet Season Midday View

by Matteo Flowers

Tropical midday sun floods the hog yard, reflecting off puddles in the churned mud near the fence line. A tall shade wall runs along one side, casting a sharp, dark rectangle over the muddy paddock. Metal nipple drinkers and cooling misters hang from the overhead handling systems, their pipes gleaming wetly against the bright sky. The ground is a mix of dark, saturated earth and lighter dried patches where the storm has just passed. Thick wooden posts anchor the fence, and the animals cluster near the cool water sources. The light is harsh and direct, eliminating soft shadows except those cast by the structure itself. One drip slides down a metal pipe, falling into a shallow mud pool at the base of the fence.
