Bali Spillway Bridge Blue Hour Concrete in under a viaduct of steel and concrete in Bali

Bali Spillway Bridge Blue Hour Concrete

by Dylan Acevedo

Wet concrete surfaces of a spillway bridge reflect the deep indigo glow of twilight in Bali. Steel beams form a geometric lattice overhead, framing the dark, still water below. Utility lights cast sharp, cool halos on the slick pavement, highlighting rain droplets clinging to the railing. The structure extends into the distance, creating strong leading lines that guide the view toward the vanishing point. Rain falls in a brief, visible curtain, distorting the light on the wet surfaces. The heavy steel and rough aggregate textures contrast with the smooth, black water. A final beam of light catches the edge of a concrete pillar, marking the boundary between the built environment and the storm.
