Aerial View of Geometric Landfill Cells Corsica
by Leandro Lam
Flat noon light bleaches the vast expanse of a landfill site, dividing the earth into rigid, geometric cells that stretch toward the horizon. Below, irrigation patterns create a contrasting grid of lush green fields, their surfaces shimmering with reflected water under heavy overcast skies. The monsoon season saturates the landscape, turning the soil into a deep, dark texture that absorbs the gray light. Massive earthen berms separate the waste cells, forming sharp lines against the softer, organic shapes of the surrounding terrain. Puddles in the lower depressions mirror the uniform white of the cloud cover, creating a seamless transition between ground and sky. The rigid geometry of the industrial site stands in stark contrast to the fluid, waterlogged appearance of the nearby agricultural zones. A narrow strip of dark asphalt cuts diagonally across the foreground, marking the boundary between the active waste management area and the wet fields beyond.
