Abandoned Art Deco Cinema Facade Near Merida Shrine

Rain-slicked stone surfaces glisten under the soft, diffused light of a bright midmorning sky. The facade of an abandoned Art Deco cinema stands adjacent to a shrine lined with colorful lanterns, creating a juxtaposition of architectural styles. Chunks of crumbling plaster hang precariously from the building's upper corners, their jagged edges against the smooth, wet pavement below. The cool season air leaves the colors of the lanterns—reds, golds, and deep blues—vivid against the gray, weathered stucco. Water droplets bead on the ornate geometric molding, tracing paths down the vertical lines of the structure. A fallen fragment of plaster rests near the shrine's base, its rough texture soaking up the moisture from the light drizzle.
