Worn Baseball Glove on Maradi Mountain Path at Dawn

Pale dawn light cuts a sharp rim across the top edge of a battered tan leather baseball glove resting on a rough stone path near Maradi. Deep shadows pool in the crevices of the trail and inside the curled fingers of the glove, highlighting cracked leather and faded patches. The Dutch angle tilt places the glove at a precarious slant against the uneven ground. Thin white plumes of visible breath rise from the cold surface nearby, marking the chill of the cool season. Condensation gathers on the thumb stitch, catching the faint edge of the morning light.
