Wooden Gate in Beirut

A small wooden gate stands slightly ajar on a narrow balcony overlooking the dense urban sprawl of Beirut under a flat, overcast sky. The weathered wood shows signs of age with peeling paint and rusted hinges, against the smooth, light-colored stucco of the adjacent wall. One potted geranium sits on the ledge nearby, its green leaves catching the diffuse, shadowless light of midday. The view beyond the gate reveals a tangle of concrete buildings and utility wires stretching toward the hazy horizon.
