Brass Hinge in Casablanca

A weathered brass hinge rests on the lower corner of a heavy wooden doorframe in a Casablanca courtyard. The flat noon light flattens the shadows, revealing the pitted texture of oxidized metal against the rough grain of the painted wood. A sliver of bright white wall frames the right side, against the deep brown shadows pooled at the base of the frame. Dust motes drift slowly through the stagnant air above the worn threshold.
