Wooden Dibber in Kyoto

A weathered wooden dibber rests vertically in a terracotta flowerpot filled with dark, damp soil on a shaded engawa porch in Kyoto during the misty dawn. The rough wood grain of the tool contrasts with the smooth, curved rim of the pot, which sits near the edge of the wooden floorboards. Thin layers of fog drift through the background, obscuring the traditional garden beyond the sliding glass doors. One green mint leaf lies curled on the surface of the earth, catching the faint, diffuse light.
