Winter Birch Forest Aerial View Over Gabela Dunes
by Lynn Reese
Golden firelight spills across a stark winter landscape where pale birch trunks rise from dry, grey earth. The forest canopy appears as a scattered pattern of white bark and bare branches against the muted tones of the surrounding terrain. Below the tree line, dune fields stretch toward arid wadis, their surfaces textured by wind and erosion. Heat shimmer distorts the air above the ground, creating a wavy, translucent veil that blurs the boundary between the forest floor and the distant horizon. The sun sits low, casting long, soft shadows that elongate across the dry grass and sand. A cluster of birch trees anchors the left third of the frame, while the vast, undulating dunes occupy the right, showing the scale of the topography. at the edge is a thin, vertical line of shadow stretching from a single trunk onto the sun-bleached sand.
