Weeds Cracking Concrete Under Blue Hour Overpass

Cool blue twilight washes the underside of a derelict concrete overpass in Xian, where late spring weeds force their way through deep fissures in the gray stone. The shuttered arcade below casts long, dark shadows against the wet pavement, reflecting the faint ambient glow of the fading sky. Heat shimmer rises in wavering lines from the rain-soaked ground, distorting the view of the crumbling pillars. Moss rests on the damp lower sections of the structure, while loose debris rests in the corners where the concrete meets the earth. One jagged root breaks the smooth surface of a support beam, ending in a sharp, dark point against the pale stone.
