Weaver Bird Nesting in Spring Mist

by Randi Chen

Thick mist hangs low over the reeds near Shibin Al Kawm, softening the edges of the early spring landscape. A weaver bird clings to a stalk, its brown and gray feathers blending with the dry grass. From a worm's-eye perspective, the bird’s sharp beak weaves long blades of grass into a complex, hanging structure. The last light of the day casts a pale, diffused glow that turns the mist into a luminous veil. The bird remains still, eyes fixed, creating a moment of quiet tension. one drop of dew rests on the tip of the woven grass, reflecting the fading sky.
