Upward Rain During Inuit Blanket Toss in Madurai Shrine

Crisp silver streaks of rain fall upward against a golden sky, defying gravity near a shrine in Madurai. Inside the lantern-lined hall, figures in heavy cool-season parkas perform the Nalukataq blanket toss. Their dark clothing contrasts with the warm, low sun tracing long shadows across the stone floor. Low-hanging clouds press down from above, meeting the ascending water droplets mid-air. The foreground dissolves into soft bokeh, isolating the suspended motion. A woman in the center is mid-air, her blanket caught in the act of flipping, while silver raindrops climb past her boots toward the lanterns. at the edge is a single droplet clinging to the hem of a fur-trimmed hood, frozen against the impossible ascent.
