Twilight Funeral Pyre Smoke Over Shahpur Jat Ghat

Distant orange town glow lights the horizon while a funeral pyre burns intensely at the entrance of a shrine in Shahpur Jat, Delhi. Thick grey smoke billows upward and drifts across the stone ghats, catching the fading blue light of early spring twilight. Wooden logs crackle within the fire, their edges glowing red against the darkening air. Leaves skitter across the foreground pavement in sudden gusts, disturbed by the rising heat. A stone archway frames the burning wood, creating a window into the smoke. The flames cast long, dancing shadows on the rough masonry of the shrine walls. Ash falls slowly onto the grey stone steps below, mixing with the dust of the path.
