Transparent Military Case in Jordan Desert Dawn
by Gail Felix
Soft, diffused light from a pre-dawn sky illuminates a weathered military radio fill-device case resting on dry, cracked earth. The case features faded olive drab paint and edges caked with fine concrete dust, yet its center panel has transformed into solid, tinted glass. This impossible transparency reveals the empty interior compartments while maintaining the object's original green hue. Heat haze shimmers above the ground, distorting the background where a convoy halt sits on open Jordanian terrain. The glass surface reflects the pale morning sky without breaking the object's silhouette. Dust motes hang suspended in the still air around the case, settling on the glass rim and the rough concrete patches. A distinct shadow stretches across the gravel, at the base of the surreal element in the physical landscape.
