Mist rests on the limestone façade of a mid-rise in Achrafieh, softening the sharp angles of concrete balconies stacked like geometric puzzle pieces. On a second-floor terrace, a weathered wooden drawer knob rests on a rusted iron railing, abandoned after a morning of repairs. Below, the street is barely visible through the gray haze, but the vibrant magenta of bougainvillea spills over a low wall, providing a sudden, saturated punctum against the monochrome dampness. One rotary cutter lies open on a nearby plastic crate, its blade catching the diffuse, shadowless light.
