Deep shadow swallows the lower half of Meskel Square while a sea of white robes rises against the dark sky. Dramatic, wild clouds churn overhead, their edges sharp and illuminated by a thin rim of light that separates the figures from the night. The wide panoramic view shows the scale of the crowd as they gather near the waterfront, their garments flowing in a continuous, undulating mass. No individual faces emerge from the darkness; only the texture of the white fabric and the stark contrast of the silhouette remain visible. The cool season air hangs heavy, but the visual focus stays on the mix of the bright fabric against the void of the night sky. at the edge is the jagged edge of a cloud breaking the moonlight above the procession.
