Wet, amber reed bundles rest against the rough wooden frame of a cottage roof in Iquitos. A worker, clad in a soaked yellow raincoat, secures the thatch with coarse rope while fine rain falls in a steady, translucent curtain. The late afternoon light falls through the heavy wet season clouds, casting a soft, diffused glow over the dark, glistening wood and the fibrous texture of the drying grass. Raindrops bead on the thatch, creating small, clear spheres that catch the pale sky.
