Molten Light on Wooden Izba in Higüey

Golden afternoon light floods a skylit passageway in Higüey, illuminating the rough-hewn timber of a wooden izba cottage. The structure stands with its characteristic log walls and steep roof against the humid backdrop of the rainy season. Green birch leaves frame the opening, their surfaces glistening with recent moisture. Thick wooden beams create strong leading lines that guide the gaze toward the dark interior of the cottage. The side light casts deep, sharp shadows across the weathered wood grain, highlighting the texture of the aged planks. One puddle on the stone floor reflects the warm glow, anchoring the space in the specific architectural reality of the Dominican city.
