Tent Lantern Light in Sera Hall Rain
by Erika Moss
Dappled sunlight falls through green leaves, casting shifting patches of brightness across a ceremonial hall in Sera, Lhasa. Inside the structure, a single lantern glows with a warm amber hue, its light spilling outward to meet the steady mountain rain falling in fine, vertical streaks. The rain blurs the view between the hall and the clear blue sky beyond, creating a soft, wet veil that softens the distant mountain ridges. Weather-beaten wooden beams frame the opening, their dark grain against the bright water droplets clinging to the eaves. Layers of depth recede from the lantern's immediate glow into the shadowed interior, where the texture of rough stone walls fades into the humid air. A final drop of water slides down a carved wooden post, catching the light before disappearing into the wet ground below.
