Tea House Shelf Evening Light El Oued
by Laurie Heath
Rich amber sunset light floods the interior of a ceremonial hall near El Oued, illuminating a service shelf stacked with program sheets, lantern frames, and coiled rope barriers. The wood grain of the shelf absorbs the warm glow, against the cool, gray tones of the heavy storm clouds visible through the open doorway. Rain streaks the glass, blurring the outside world into a soft wash of slate and silver. In the foreground, out-of-focus elements create a soft bokeh that frames the organized clutter of the shelf. The program sheets show printed text and diagrams, while the lantern frames lean against the wall in a disordered stack. The rope barriers rest heavily on the surface, their fibers catching the golden edge of the light. One reflection of the amber sky glimmers on a wet spot of the wooden table.
