Taiko Drum Skin Tightening on Lunar Shrine
A massive taiko drum skin stretches taut between lacquered wooden stands, silhouetted against a stark black sky. The scene unfolds in an Osaka shrine courtyard, where stone lanterns and vermilion gates stand motionless on a grey, cratered surface. Hard, airless sunlight strikes the drum head from behind, creating a sharp, glowing rim of white light that defines the curve of the skin. The lacquer on the stands reflects the harsh light with a mirror-like intensity, against the matte texture of the drum skin. Late autumn leaves, brown and brittle, lie scattered across the dusty lunar ground. In the distance, the curve of the moon horizon rises gently, framing the silhouette of a traditional shrine gate. The shadow of the drum falls instantly and sharply to the left, devoid of any atmospheric diffusion. One crack in the stone lantern base catches the light, revealing the rough texture of the ancient rock.
