Swallows in Shenzhen Palace Corridor Twilight in along a derelict corridor with peeled paint and pooled water in Shenzhen

Swallows in Shenzhen Palace Corridor Twilight

by Tanya Bonilla

Indigo twilight floods a derelict corridor where peeling paint reveals layers of gray plaster beneath faded blue finishes. Pooled water on the stone floor mirrors the harsh glow of nearby neon signs, casting electric blues and magentas across wet surfaces. Condensation beads heavily on a glass pane to the right, blurring the view of the rainy season outside. Swallows dart through the open upper archway, their dark silhouettes cutting against the dimming sky. Water drips from cracked cornices, creating small ripples in the deep puddles that stretch toward the vanishing point. at the edge is one drop of rain sliding down the glass, distorting the neon reflection into a streak of electric violet.
