Hard late morning light cuts across a dusty construction zone where a brass surveyor transit sits atop a wooden tripod. The instrument stands before a scaffolded facade rising along a street in Ghorahi, its metal legs gripping uneven ground. Below, ground fog pools in low depressions among scattered rebar and timber planks. Dust motes hang suspended in the bright air, settling on the tripod's crossbars and the rough wood of the scaffolding. The low angle emphasizes the height of the structure against the pale sky. Rust streaks run down steel beams, against the warm tones of the timber. A shadow from the transit falls sharply across a pile of gravel, defining the tool's precise position on the chaotic floor.
