Dramatic clouds hang low over a midday night market in Guadalajara where the ground has transformed into a sheet of mirror-still water. Participants in traditional Japanese Setsubun attire throw roasted soybeans across the liquid surface. Their movements and the colorful stalls reflect perfectly in the impossible floor, doubling the visual field. The dry season light creates sharp contrasts against the wet-looking ground. Wooden stalls line the edges while red lanterns float above the reflection. The symmetry of the scene is absolute, with the horizon line bisecting the image exactly.
