Blue twilight washes the stage in Guilin as a silhouetted puppeteer stands before a luminous white screen. The performer holds a rod, casting a sharp, dark figure against the glowing backdrop. Haze hangs suspended in the air, catching the reflected light from the nearby water below the stage. The water surface mirrors the soft blue glow, adding depth to the illuminated backdrop. The puppeteer's hands move with precision, shaping the dark cutout against the bright fabric. The stage floor remains in shadow, at the base of the figure in the cool evening air. A faint ripple on the water below distorts the reflected light into shifting patterns of indigo and silver.
