Chengdu Lantern Festival Riddles in Predawn

Silvery winter light falls through dramatic, layered clouds hovering over a Chengdu street procession. Red paper lanterns hang in rows, each displaying handwritten Chinese riddles in black ink against the translucent fabric. The predawn darkness keeps the street lamps dim, casting soft halos around the glowing orbs. Textured paper surfaces catch the faint ambient glow, revealing fine creases and the slight sheen of the material. Traditional architecture lines the background, its dark eaves framing the vibrant reds. The lanterns sway gently, their weight pulling the silk cords taut against the cool morning air. A shadow stretches across the wet pavement beneath the nearest lantern, at the base of the floating shapes in the quiet street.
