Succulent Tray in Wet Season Haze

A rectangular tray of succulents rests on low vegetation within a misty meadow near Mangalore. The wet season air hangs heavy, turning the background into a soft wash of green and grey. Ground fog pools in the depressions of the grass, obscuring the lower stems of the plants. Distant town lights bleed onto the horizon, casting a faint orange warmth against the deepening blue of the evening sky. The leaves of the succulents glisten with moisture, their fleshy surfaces catching the last fading light. Shadows stretch long and soft across the tray's rim, at the base of the arrangement in the damp earth. one drop of water rests on the edge of a broad leaf, refracting the distant glow.
