Hard midmorning sunlight strikes a stacked pile of gray and tan stones perched on a jagged rocky saddle. The cairn stands in sharp relief against a backdrop of low-hanging white clouds drifting through a deep mountain valley. Bright light reflects off the rough, weathered surfaces of the rocks, creating stark white highlights and deep, angular shadows. The ground around the cairn is scattered with loose gravel and sparse, dry grasses turning from green to gold at the season's turn. A Dutch angle tilt slants the horizon line, showing the precarious balance of the stones against the vast, open sky. The lowest stone rests heavily on a flat bedrock shelf, anchoring the structure against the wind.
