Stepped Ziggurat Facade Reflected in Canal
by Alana Chen
Dappled light falls through overhead leaves, casting shifting patches of brightness across the geometric ziggurat facade. The structure rises in stacked, stepped rectangles, its concrete surfaces textured by the heavy overcast sky above. Beside the canal, the water mirrors the architectural forms, creating a symmetrical composition where the solid blocks meet their liquid倒影. The midnight sun maintains a low, even angle, flattening shadows while the gray clouds diffuse the illumination. Leaves drape near the upper corners, their green edges framing the rigid lines of the building. The reflection in the canal water blurs slightly, softening the sharp corners of the lower steps as the pattern repeats beneath the surface. A dark shadow from a branch falls across the bottom left corner of the mirrored water.
