Steel I-beam in New York

A heavy steel I-beam stands vertically against the stark white sky of a winter noon in Lower Manhattan. The metal surface is rough and grey, showing deep vertical scratches where rain and ice have worn away the paint over the years. Behind the beam, the blurred glass facade of a modern skyscraper reflects the cold, bright light of the day. One patch of snow rests on a small ledge near the base of the structure.
