Steam Train Alpine Ferry Spring Afternoon
Mud and frost coat the dark iron body of a steam train as it traverses a remote ferry crossing beneath a heavy stack of low-hanging clouds. The early afternoon light reflects off the dark water below, creating a sharp mirrored composition where the train's undercarriage meets its inverted image. Patches of white frost rest on the wheels and chassis, against the wet, muddy textures of the metal. The sky above is a dense tapestry of grey and white, pressing down on the distant alpine saddle. Beside the tracks, the water remains still enough to hold the reflection of the steam plume rising into the air. A thin line of orange rust runs along the bottom edge of the train's side panel.
