Rustic terracotta vessels nestle tightly against one another on a weathered wooden shelf within a covered market in Gorakhpur. The north-facing window casts a cool, diffuse sidelight that highlights the rough, unglazed texture of the clay and the grain of the timber. Earthy reds and burnt oranges dominate the palette, punctuated by the pale gray of the wet wood. Monsoon moisture hangs in the air, visible as a slight sheen on the curved surfaces of the pots.
