Honey-colored light from a setting sun fills a skylit passageway in Afyonkarahisar, casting the sharp, rhythmic shadow of a spiral staircase onto a curved concrete wall. The light enters through a high window, illuminating dust motes and revealing condensation beading on the nearby glass pane. A weathered handrail runs along the edge of the frame, its metal surface showing signs of age and use. On the stone sill, a small padlock rests beside a taper candle, adding a touch of quiet utility to the space. The floorboards meet the wall at a visible seam, at the base of the composition in a threshold between interior and exterior. The shadows stretch long and dark, showing the texture of the concrete and the resilience of the architecture. At the edge is the faint reflection of the window frame on the damp glass.
