First light after rain washes the narrow street in a cool, diffused gray, reflecting off the wet cobblestones and the damp facade of a traditional Athenian neoclassical building. A local fishmonger stands behind a stainless steel counter, his hands busy sorting fresh catch, while a wooden toolbox rests open on the counter beside a heavy iron scale. Raindrops rest on the metal edges, and the soft morning light catches the silver sheen of the fish scales.
