A heavy leather sailmaker's palm rests atop a stack of thick, folded canvas on a worn wooden workbench. A brass-tipped needle lies across the fabric, catching the harsh glow of overhead fluorescent tubes. The light reflects sharply off the polished brass and the smooth, waxed surface of the leather tool. Deep shadows pool in the folds of the heavy canvas, while the wood grain of the bench shows signs of heavy use. The stark illumination isolates the tools against the dark background, showing the tactile weight of the materials. A small highlight gleams on the tip of the needle where the light strikes directly.
