Rust Bubbles on Steel Plate

Orange and ochre corrosion bubbles swell across the gray surface of a flat steel plate. The metal rests on a rough patch of lichen-covered bark, the green and gray textures of the wood against the flaking paint. Pale, diffuse light from a high window fills the room, bouncing off nearby walls to illuminate the scene without harsh shadows. Condensation beads on a glass surface just out of focus in the background, hinting at the turn of seasons. The composition leaves ample empty space around the corroded metal, showing the quiet intimacy of the discovery. A sharp edge of rust catches the light, revealing the depth of the oxidation.
