Road Roller Compacting Asphalt on Luxembourg Ridge

A massive yellow road roller moves slowly across a fresh ribbon of black asphalt laid along a wind-scoured ridge in Luxembourg. The machine's heavy steel drum presses the hot aggregate flat while the surrounding landscape remains damp and dark with recent rain. Humid air hangs low over the gray-green grass that lines the construction zone. The early afternoon sun reflects sharply off the wet surface of the roller's cab and the glistening new road. A stone archway in the foreground frames the heavy machinery as it advances, creating a natural border around the industrial work. Tiny droplets of water bead on the metal surfaces, catching the light before the steam rises from the hot pavement. at the edge is a single crack forming in the wet earth beside the compacted lane.
