Refinery Window Indoor Night View Cabo San Lucas in under gantries and utility towers near Cabo San Lucas

Refinery Window Indoor Night View Cabo San Lucas

by Pedro Cunningham

Damp concrete floors glisten under the harsh orange glow of sodium-vapor lights and intermittent welding flares. Massive steel pipes run overhead, supported by utility towers that stretch into the deep night sky. A window embedded in a rusted metal wall disrupts the industrial logic; it frames a cozy, warmly lit living room with a bookshelf and a rug, clearly an interior space situated within the wet-season refinery. Vapor hangs heavy in the air, clinging to the cold metal surfaces. The Dutch angle tilt tilts the entire facility, making the impossible window appear as a natural architectural feature. One rivet on the pipe reflects the warm interior light from the impossible room.
