Raptor Nest on Tower in Indigo Twilight in on a wind-scoured ridge in Western Australia

Raptor Nest on Tower in Indigo Twilight

by Bette Adkins

Steel-blue ambient light washes a wind-scoured ridge in Western Australia during monsoon season. A massive raptor nest constructed of rough, grey branches sits atop a steel lattice power line tower. Low-hanging dust particles hang suspended in the air, creating a hazy veil beneath the structure. The nest is a dense cluster of twigs and dried grass, positioned high against the darkening sky. Thin, taut wires stretch across the frame, intersecting the view at sharp angles. The steel beams of the tower appear cold and rigid, against the organic texture of the nest. One branch extends outward from the structure, its silhouette cutting through the indigo haze. The ground below is obscured by the settling dust, leaving only the tower and nest visible against the fading light.
