Deep shadow covers the white city hall press podium while a sharp rim of sunrise light traces its curved edges. Tangled microphone cables spill across the metal surface, their black insulation slick with recent rain. Behind the stand, low-hanging grey clouds press against the sky above a public square in Lagos. The wet pavement reflects the pale morning glow, creating a mirror of grey and white. A red flag hangs limp from a nearby pole, its fabric heavy with moisture. The cables form a chaotic nest of wires against the clean lines of the podium. Water droplets gather at the edge of the metal base.
