Puddles of muddy water reflect the pale winter sky inside a deep excavation beside a framed building shell. Wet scaffolding mesh glints under the first light of an early morning sun shower, while mud coats the uneven ground in thick, dark layers. The skeletal structure of the frame rises against the gray sky, its wooden studs stark against the damp earth. Dust mixes with rain to form a slick, gray slurry that rests on the pit walls. Small rivulets carve paths through the debris, flowing toward the lowest point of the excavation. One piece of orange safety tape hangs loosely from a metal pole, fluttering slightly in the damp air.
