Sunlight reflects off a distant water source, casting a cool, shimmering glow across the dry, harvested grain field near Bobo-Dioulasso. An orchard ladder, constructed of weathered wood and metal rungs, leans heavily into the gnarled branches of an apple tree laden with heavy fruit. The tree's leaves have turned a deep, russet brown, against the pale, dusty earth below. Strong wind whips the loose stalks of the harvested grain across the foreground, creating a textured blur that moves against the static ladder. Layers of depth recede from the immediate tree trunk into the hazy distance where the water glimmers. The ladder's shadow stretches long and sharp across the ground, anchored by the weight of the fruit above.
