Oaxacan Candle Maker Dipping Wicks

Thick, translucent pools of amber wax coat the wooden wicks held by hands resting on a deep crimson velvet chair. The fabric shows a plush texture with light catching the raised pile where the wicks touch. Golden highlights dance across the smooth, glossy surface of the molten wax as it rests on the fibers. A narrow beam of cool daylight streams from the left, illuminating the steam rising faintly from the vat and casting sharp, dark shadows against the rich red upholstery. The wax drips in slow, viscous beads that glisten like small jewels before settling back into the liquid mass. The polished wood of the wick holder reflects the window light in a thin, bright line against the soft fabric.
