Pink and teal light spills across a wet asphalt patch beneath the rusted steel beams of an elevated train line in Sandakan. The dark water surface mirrors the blurred shapes of commuters walking past storefronts, their silhouettes fractured by ripples. Dry leaves and crumpled paper drift along the curb, caught in the wind funneling beneath the concrete overpass. The predawn sky remains a deep, featureless blue above the metal structure, while the streetlights cast long, distorted shadows against the damp ground. A reflection of a red sign glows sharply in the corner of the puddle, anchoring the composition against the gray steel girders overhead.
