Rainy Guayaquil Underpass Street Lamp Reflection in under an elevated train line in Guayaquil

Rainy Guayaquil Underpass Street Lamp Reflection

by Annabelle Mathis

Hard afternoon sunlight falls through a thick, humid haze beneath the elevated concrete train tracks of Guayaquil. One street lamp casts a warm, yellow glow that shatters across the wet asphalt below. The pavement acts as a dark mirror, distorting the light into elongated, shimmering streaks that ripple near the curb. Rain has left the surface slick and glossy, reflecting the gray steel beams overhead and the dull green of the surrounding foliage. Shadows stretch long and soft against the rough concrete pillars. A blurred vertical post in the immediate foreground frames the view, adding depth to the scene. at the edge is a small puddle at the edge of the curb where the yellow light breaks into tiny, dancing fragments.
