Monsoon Lanterns in Sadarghat Temple Courtyard Dhaka

by Brody Garrison

Low-hanging gray clouds diffuse the late morning light across the wet stone pathways of the Sadarghat temple courtyard. Amber paper lanterns hang from weathered eaves, casting warm reflections onto the slick pavement and the adjacent water surface. Soft, out-of-focus droplets in the immediate foreground create a gentle bokeh that frames the aged brickwork. Water ripples gently in a shallow pool near the steps, mirroring the suspended lights. A wet leaf rests on a stone ledge in the lower right corner. The sheen on every surface evidences the heavy monsoon moisture. Beside the pool, a wooden beam supports the hanging lanterns. The light falls across the wet stones without harsh shadows.
