Overcast skies weigh heavy above a line of military vehicles parked on the paved parade ground near Potosi. The vehicles sit in a rigid formation, their dark metal hulls reflecting the dim, blue evening light. Sandbags stack in low barriers along the perimeter, their rough fabric texture against the smooth asphalt. Distant town glow paints the horizon in soft oranges, competing with the dramatic, layered clouds overhead. The turn of seasons leaves the air crisp, visible in the sharp, defined shadows cast by the convoy. Leading lines of the road draw the eye straight toward the command vehicle at the front, where a single red taillight glows against the encroaching twilight.
